Vehicle history:
This car was first registered in the Netherlands in 1978. At that time
it was in use as a service vehicle for 14 years for the Alfa Romeo
dealer "Autohotel" in Rotterdam. After its use as a service vehicle it
was put into the cellar of the dealer in Rotterdam for 7 years. In 1999
it was purchased from this Rotterdam dealer by one of its employees with
the intention to put it back on the road, but he couldn't find the time
to do so and thus sold the car with a lot of spare parts. In December
2012 the owner who bought car from the dealer employee put the vehicle
up for sale on the Dutch auction website "Marktplaats" as a restoration
project. Apparently the car was sold in January 2013. Let's hope the car
will be restored. The front end which is common with other Alfasud
vehicles except for the jack bracket and the sills seem beyond repair,
the rest is probably a lot of work but not uncommon for the few
Giardinetta survivors. Two big advantages with this restoration project
are that the car is complete including its interior and it has its
original Dutch licence plates. |
