Vehicle history: The first registration was in May 1981 in Vienna Austria where the car was used by the local Alfa Romeo dealer. In 1983 it moved to its first private owner. After being owned by the Alfa dealer it had 3 different private owners in Austria. In 1991 the car was restored. In 2013 this car appeared on the well known German website "mobile.de". At that time the sales description stated that a Giardinetta is more rare than a Mercedes 300SL. The car was available on this German website for some months and then it disappeared. Apparently it moved to Greece because the car was offered for sale again from Greece in April 2016. The auction on the well known "bringatrailer" website ended on April 14th 2016 at 12.000 U.S. Dollar after 21 bids. The story featuring the vehicle ad stated that the car, before entering a car museum in Greece was featured in an other car museum (probably Austria).  The seats had however been replace with some odd looking 3rd series seats compared to when it wa offered for sale in 2013. Also a lot of stickers and a wrapped roof and a roof rack were added. This particular car is a very late production one. A very interesting feature of this vehicle is the VIN number format. It starts from "ZAS904B2" which is very different from the older vehicles which start from "AS" and there is a zero before the entry stating the 500 number which may indicate the production date to be in the eighties. Another odd feature are the low positioned rearview mirrors on the doors. Normally it would indicate that the doors are at some point in time replaced by 3rd series Sud Ti doors, but since this car was produced most probably in 1980 it could be that the car automatically was manufactured with 3rd series Ti doors because at that time the 3rd series Sud was in production. Another unusual feature is the very crooked positioned chrome coloured Alfasud logo on the rear hatch which normally would have been the tipo 904B/904B2 black coloured sticker, the steering wheel has a centre cover of the first type Sud/Giardinetta, the fuse box is a 3rd series Sud one as well the position of the ignition coil is horizontal instead of vertical, the included steel rims are 3rd series Sud ones with the black plastic hub caps, the front inner wings don't have the 3 round holes on the left and right hand side to assemble the rubber horn protection flaps. The lack of stickers on the inside of the bonnet clearly indicate that the car has been repainted at some point in time. The assumption is that the original body colour was Rosso Alfa, however no confirmation is available. The latest owner who purchased the car from "bringatrailer" imported the car to Switzerland and also has a tipo 904A (AS*5008118*904A) in his collection. One of the first things the new owner did was to remove the white wrapping from the roof and re-upholster the interior with the correct black coloured Tex-Alfa fabric.
